Mediterranean Food is The New Food for Brain; Says A Recent Study!

A latest research study conducted in Spain has revealed that Mediterranean food is not just good for your heart but also for your brains! As a part of this research, the researchers followed the diet patterns of  more than 1,000 people in 6 and a half years and discovered that the participants that consumed a Mediterranean diet and had olive oil and extra nuts scored better on cognitive tests as compared to the  control group, that followed a low fat diet. There are many companies like FlavorTeaze that offer Mediterranean items for the food lovers online.

Dr. Miguel Martinez-Gonzalez, chairman of preventive medicine belonging to the University of Navarra based in Spain said that “We discovered that when  Mediterranean diet was accompanied with olive oil, it was capable to lower the risk of vascular disease and cognitive dysfunction." The Mediterranean cuisine is free from processed food and bad quality fats. Moreover, it involves healthy nuts, whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables as well as red wine that is rich in anti-oxidants. Thus, they decrease the vascular damage and damages caused to the brain.

Dr. Melina Jampolis, who is a physician as well as a nutrition specialist, was of the opinion that the findings of this study are quite noteworthy. She was of the opinion that “Mediterranean diet comes with several vascular protective qualities and hence it is quite beneficial to the consumer.” However, several experts are of the opinion that one must keep the Mediterranean diet up to certain levels and do not extend it beyond a certain limit. Only then, it will show its effects on better cognition.

Dr Martinez-Gonzalez said that “Undoubtedly, Mediterranean diet can prove to be quite advantageous.” He further added that “Though the group size of the experiment was quite small, it is a statistically significant study. The accumulation of micro-nutrients can work wonders with the nervous system when it is combined with Mediterranean cuisine.”

Not only the Mediterraneans, but the Americans also love to have Mediterranean food. Americans often log on to the website of FlavorTeaze to get economic and healthy Mediterranean diet choices.
